Pelvic Pain
No matter the root cause, pelvic pain can create a large burden on the person experiencing it and the people around them. Even if there is something additional going on (e.g. endometriosis, interstitial cystitis), the muscles of the pelvic floor, abdominals, hips, and spine undergo changes that increase tension and sensitivity. This can alter movement patterns that negatively impact your tolerance to positions and movement overtime. These changes become more and more apparent and can increase your overall pain experience. It's a vicious cycle!
In pelvic floor PT, we can identify these dysfunctions and start to address them in a way that your body can tolerate. As the muscles and joints move better, your body will learn more positive coping mechanisms and reduce the negative impacts of your pain.
